EA took no time in getting to work. In 2013 EA revealed that developer DICE, famous for its work on the first-person shooter series Battlefield, would be creating a new Star Wars: Battlefront game. The Battlefront titles were amongst the most-loved Star Wars video games, and immediately anticipation went through the roof. DICE has since teased that the relaunch of the Battlefront series will bring players to a number of iconic Star Wars locations akin to the original games, including the battle of Hoth....

The fourth pick in the 2013 draft will be eligible to return to the Eagles’ active roster Sept. 29. He’ll miss games against Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Washington and San Francisco. With Dying Light now over a year old, Techland’s idea of revamping the popular “Be the Zombie” mode is a good way at ensuring the game remains fresh for old gamers whilst hooking in new players....

If you’re wondering how much this little transaction drained EA’s pockets. Well, it was only a slim $275 million with a $25 million equity retention deal, but Playfish CEO and co-founder Kristian Segerstrale seems pumped for the fusion. Playfish seems happy, but as has just been announced today EA will be laying off 1,500 employees, or 17% of their workforce. Apparently the reason for these lay-offs comes in the form of a “Cost Reduction Plan”....

An update to EA’s YouTube channel shortly after the Anthem teaser trailer aired stated that the game would launch in spring 2018. However, this was redacted by the time more footage was shown at Microsoft’s conference, at which point it was stated that its release would in fact come in fall 2018. Now, the official Anthem website has gone live, and it states front and center that the game is set to launch in fall 2018 — which makes sense for a game with the potential to be a huge commercial success....

The most important thing Starbreeze wants gamers to know that this isn’t just a straight up remake of Syndicate. While it will satisfy fans’ needs for a sequel/remake, this is also a conscious effort by Starbreeze to take what they have learned from their previous endeavors and apply it to this franchise. Most recently Starbreeze has enjoyed some critical success with the first person shooter The Darkness and the two Chronicles of Riddick adaptations....

For Electronic Arts, the strategy going forward is to begin the next-gen with familiar franchises before bringing out the newness. In an interview with EA’s Frank Gibeau, CVG inquired about the publisher’s strategy with new next-gen IPs. Gibeau: EA is also of course heading into the next-gen with Battlefield 4, the sequel to their fastest-selling game ever. Using the proven sellers helps the company establish a foothold on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One first before pushing newer franchises....

EA does have some strong single-player titles lined up for early next year and beyond. With the Dead Space remake coming out in January 2023 and a Black Panther game stated to be in development, there are options for those who don’t enjoy the multiplayer experience. A lot of fans point to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for when EA saw a resurgence in creating single-player titles, and they’ve been wanting a sequel to the space-faring adventure ever since....

With such a strong list of IPs slated to enter its roster, Electronic Arts apparently has some big plans to utilize them to the fullest, revealing in a Q3 financial report that it plans to release a new racing game every year. The strategy has allegedly been made possible due to now owning such a diverse range of driving franchises, claiming in the presentation that they “will enable EA to release new racing experiences annually....
