Every so often, some developer, publisher or various industry bigwig sounds off about the death of the single-player game. It would appear that this year it was EA Games’ President Frank Gibeau’s turn. Gibeau seems rather certain that unless a single-player game has some sort of online component, it’s going to go the way of the dodo. Here’s what he had to say: It shouldn’t go without mention that EA just dumped truck loads of money into purchasing both Playfish and Chillingo....

Last month, EA gave away a free Battlefield 4 expansion for free, which included multiple maps and weapons. This time EA is doubling the fun with content for two Battlefield games. This should certainly help alleviate some of the disappointment from fans of the series considering Battlefield 2042 was just officially delayed. EA’s popular multiplayer games such as the Battlefield series and Apex Legends have always been susceptible to cheating, resulting in players calling for more drastic measures in dealing with cheaters. While developer Respawn Entertainment has its own plans in cracking down on cheaters, EA has much bigger vision in the works. Apparently, it was necessary Sunday night because the Eagles were in danger of winning their game. MORE: Was it worth it for Eagles to trade up for Carson Wentz? It was curious enough when Philadelphia head coach Doug Pederson chose to pursue a touchdown on fourth-and-goal from the Washington Football Team 4-yard line with 2:01 left in the third quarter — with the Eagles just three points away from tying the game....

Eagles linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill intercepted an Eli Manning pass and Alshon Jeffery caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Carson Wentz in the game’s first two minutes to set the tone for the rest of the night. Wentz was impressive, passing for 278 yards and three touchdowns. Jeffery caught a second touchdown pass later in the game and finished with eight receptions for 74 yards. Manning, meanwhile, continued to struggle. He was sacked four times, was intercepted once and failed to throw a touchdown pass....

The best game of Week 14, the Seattle Seahawks at the Philadelphia Eagles, features examples of both of these. After losing two straight to the Dallas Cowboys and NFC West rival St. Louis early, Pete Carroll and the Seahawks won five of their last six to get to 8-4 and keep their Super Bowl title defense alive. Among those hoping to rewrite their reputation is Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez. The sixth-year player is in his first season with Philadelphia, but is starting only his fifth game after Nick Foles was knocked out with a broken collarbone....

In a post on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, user sekurko has managed to unearth some information about possible upcoming DLC for Dying Light 2 that includes the region it may take place in, as well as points of interest. Looking into the data files, they were able to uncover something referring to “Outpost,” “Blood Diamonds” and “Archers,” which could be in reference to quest names, which may or may not take place in the Elyseum district....

The Bloody Summer Event is “all about carnage and making the streets of the City run red with the blood of your opponents,” according to Techland. The event entails players playing the game normally, but with the caveat of rewards being offered specifically for cutting off enemy limbs. So, using the game’s paraglider and parkour mechanics will be all the more important as players will benefit from getting from area to area faster in order to increase their rewards....

Picking up 20 years after 2015’s Dying Light, Dying Light 2 puts players in the boots of Aiden Caldwell as he fights to survive in an unnamed, zombie-infested European city. Caldwell will need to navigate both the undead and various factions trying to survive which will rise and fall based on players’ choices. The game will feature parkour traversal like the first game, along with an updated weapons system where melee weapons will degrade with time and use while players rebuild and upgrade their arsenals....

Dying Light 2 is a sequel to the 2015 open-world zombie game Dying Light and set 20 years after the events of the first game. Players will take the role of Aiden Caldwell, a survivor inside a desolate, European city who must survive both the undead and human factions vying for control. Like the first game, players will need to implement parkour to quickly traverse the city while armed with a variety of weapons to battle zombie and human, alike....

As seen below in the video from the official Dying Light YouTube channel, the game’s producer, Tymon Smektala, offers up a cursory description of the content to come, with Techland planning to add new and challenging enemies, more in-game events, extra mysteries to solve, as well as “much, much more.” In order to give fans a “tiny taste” of the impending materials, the developer will release a content drop with new enemies sometime soon called “DLC #0,” which isn’t included in the ten new releases, as it’s just being offered as tease of what’s to come....

It is nice to see a sports game getting off the yearly cycle in order to focus on making a quality title. While UFC Undisputed wowed gamers, Undisputed 2010 left a lot to be desired. And while the previously released trailer gave gamers a taste of what UFC Undisputed 3 would bring to the table, what THQ showed at E3 provided an even deeper look. First and foremost, they wanted gamers to know that they viewed Undisputed 3 as a fighting game....

The X-Men franchise is also getting a video game called X-Men: Destiny and a film in the form of X-Men: First Class although unlike the aforementioned properties, these two X-Men projects are entirely unreleated. X-Men: Destiny has been a game shrouded in relative mystery aside from a few screenshots of the game’s playable characters. Today Activision demo’d the game for us and we finally have an idea of what the game is really about and how it plays....

The game’s development has gone through all kinds of ups and downs, and though rumors have emerged that the game would indeed finally be released, no real proof existed.
