Halo is well known as the king of console shooters and a defining series in the entire first person shoot universe. Crysis, on the other hand, is known as the king of PC shooters (visually, it was - and continues to be - a groundbreaking experience) and another pinnacle moment in FPS evolution. Electronic Arts is bringing their Crytek-engine rendered champion over to the Xbox 360 and PS3 soon and are quite confident that it’ll be dethroning Halo as the top console shooter:

The words came from EA Games President Frank Gibeau. The man certainly knows the ins and outs of the business, but you’ve got to admit that labeling the game a Halo-killer is like saying the car you haven’t built yet it going is going to outrace a Ferrari that’s powered by Twilight fangirl screams. I’m skeptical, while Crysis was visually superior and was indeed an immersive experience, the online factor that is so prevalent in the Halo franchise seems to be missing in the Crysis series.

Gibeau was also asked as to whether Electronic Arts had approached Bungie before Bungie had signed with Activision for a ten year contract. In response, he stated that EA games had enough shooting games that it wasn’t necessary:

There you have it folks: Frank Gibeau is the most nonchalant, confident guy ever. What do you think of his words? Do you think Crysis 2 could be the Halo-killer that EA is looking for?
