Representing the latest game to be subject to mass downvoting of review scores, Dying Light 2 has recently caused upset in the Italian community, which has led to a number of people review bombing the game on Metacritic. Some gamers are not happy about the fact that Techland didn’t include Italian dialogue in the game, despite it including many other languages. One user even referred to is as a “heavy offense” to Italian people.

Despite Dying Light 2 releasing to mixed critical reception, there have been some great positives that many have praised, such as the parkour features. However, at the time of writing, the current Metacritic score for the game is 6.0. Since then, there have been some additional reviewers who have seemingly been lashing out at those review bombing the game. Inexplicably, some of the later ones have been calling out those who see the lack of Italian language as a negative, yet have still been giving the game a low score.

It doesn’t seem clear as to why Techland left out Italian when translating the game before release, but it’s entirely possible the studio could implement it, especially after the backlash. The latest patch for Dying Light 2 released recently, which aims to fix various game crashes, improve DLSS visuals, and clean up some of graphics in general. There’s no mention of adding any new languages just yet.

The open world zombie game is doing quite well on Steam, and it seems there are still aspects that are worthy of praise. It’s ultimately down to Techland whether it decides to respond to the recent review bombings. Whether it goes ahead and rectifies the issue or not, there’s likely to be some explanation as to why Italian was left out in the first instance.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
