To make the Dying Light 2 experience even better, Techland has updated the game consistently since release. While the majority of these updates have just tweaked some gameplay elements and added a few cosmetics for Dying Light players to equip, as well as one or two quests, the latest 1.3.0 update has gone above and beyond. It adds a whole new mode, some much-needed co-op changes, and more technical fixes that improve the game quite a bit on next-gen consoles.

Dying Light 2: Update 1.3.0’s New Game+ Mode

The biggest and probably the best addition included in Dying Light 2’s 1.3.0 update is a brand-new New Game+ mode. Upon finishing Dying Light 2’s main story, players can now access this mode, which throws them all the way back to the start of the game with all of their upgrades and equipment.

This New Game+ mode is surprisingly substantial, adding 30 new Inhibitors to Dying Light 2’s open world and switching up the placement of some enemies to give seasoned players a tougher challenge. In this mode, an enemy’s AI difficulty now scales with the player’s level. Starting New Game+ will also add a platinum objective to the game’s parkour challenges, and a new legendary weapon tier will become available. For those who have spent dozens of hours in Dying Light 2 already, there might be enough new content here to justify a replay.

Dying Light 2 1.3.0’s Co-Op Changes

Dying Light 2’s co-op has never really worked as well as it should have. Thankfully, with this latest update, things may finally be back on track. In general, update 1.3.0 aims to fix stability and connection issues across the board for co-op. However, the connection between players in the late-game and those who are earlier in Dying Light 2’s story should be more stable in particular.

Along with making Dying Light 2’s co-op more stable, update 1.3.0 is also bringing a plethora of bug fixes to the game. A few examples of this are fixing the player’s inability to manage their inventory after dying in co-op, fixing non-stop bandit respawns in their camps, and fixing sound duplication.

General Gameplay and Content Changes In Dying Light 2’s 1.3.0 Update

Dying Light 2’s 1.3.0 update also adds a whole new quest to the game. Titled “Something Big Has Been Here,” this quest tasks the player with hunting down some of the game’s new elemental Goon-infected variants.

On top of everything mentioned so far, Dying Light 2’s 1.3.0 update is also bringing a horde of general gameplay tweaks, the aforementioned bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. A few highlights are that enemies with bows now deal slightly less damage per-shot, frame rate has been stabilized throughout Dying Light 2’s open world, and achievements now pop when they’re supposed to. An FOV slider has also been added to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game.

Dying Light 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is in development
